The Springhead in Sutton Poyntz will be hosting its fourth Dog, Sausage and Cider Festival on Sunday, August 26.
Landlady and organiser, Jo Parker, said that this years event will be even bigger and better while raising money for Margaret Green Animal Rescue, Southfield Veterinary Centre and Ann Bond Dog Training.
This years event will see a sizzling BBQ with 10 different flavours of sausage available including the Springhead’s own cider festival inspired sausage.
Alongside this, the event will also see a cider selling artisan and local ciders along with handcrafted wood-fired pizzas.
Twenty stalls will also be selling a variety of doggy delights, artisan food stalls and crafts.
Meanwhile, dog owners will be able to enter their pooches into a dog show with a variety of categories including best rescue/rehomed, waggiest tail, most handsome big boy and prettiest big girl.
Jo added: “It’s going to be bigger and better now we are in our fifth year. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have our popular sausage throwing contest – people get very competitive but it is great fun.
“We will also have a vintage tea rooms stand and live music.
“This year, a highlight will be Dog display by Watercombe Agility with the opportunity for your dog to have a go on the course.”
Jo took over the running of The Springhead in October 2012 and said the festival is one of the most popular events of the village calendar.
Speaking about how it all started, Jo added: “It was really a combination between ourselves and Ann Bond Dog Training. “There are so many people with dogs in the area and we thought it would be great to host a dog show and raise some money at the same time.
“So we thought we would make it a big family event, and who doesn’t love sausages and cider?”
The event will commence at 10.30am with Dog Show registration opening from 11 am.
